Image of Double the Fun with Ladybirds

This week in our EYFS maths lessons, we explored the magic of doubles - and took our learning outdoors!

The children worked in pairs in our outdoor classroom to create their very own ladybirds with matching spots on each wing. Using natural materials and craft resources, they showed doubles up to 10 by carefully placing the same number of spots on each side.

We talked about how doubling means “adding the same again”, and the children loved using their ladybirds to show facts like “double 2 is 4” and “double 5 is 10”.

It was wonderful to see maths come to life in nature - through teamwork, creativity and lots of counting!
