This week in Maths, Year 1 had lots of fun learning about greater than, less than, and equal to using some very hungry crocodiles!
We discovered that crocodiles always open their mouths towards the greater number because they’re greedy and want to eat the most! The children used number cards and cubes to build and compare numbers, then placed the correct crocodile symbol in between.
We practised saying number sentences like:
“7 is greater than 4” and “3 is less than 5.”
The children loved using their own crocodile mouths to chomp the bigger numbers and became much more confident at comparing amounts.
Well done, Year 1 — your maths was snappy and smart today!
