Visit from South Staffs water
South Staffs water have been to visit Oak class to talk to us about where our water comes from and how we can stop wasting water.
We created our own model of a river basin and discussed how important our rivers are.
National Memorial Arboretum
Oak class enjoyed our trip to the National Memorial Arboretum. We took part in workshops where we learnt about evacuation and rationing. We also explored lots of WW11 memorials and ended the day with an act of remembrance in the chapel. This gave us a chance to reflect on all the people who…
Water resistance
We have been learning about water resistance. To test our theories we have been exploring the idea of streamlining. We have learnt that large shapes experience more water resistance and so move more slowly through the water.
Exploring WW11 artefacts.
As part of our history topic we have been exploring WW11 artefacts. We have especially enjoyed trying on the gas masks, although we wouldn’t like to use one for real!
European languages day.
We have had fun on European languages day: taking part in quizzes to try and guess what languages we could hear. Creating posters about how learning a language can help our hearts and minds and learning the names of some new languages across the world.
Sewing skills.
In DT we are making toys using our sewing skills. We are using a blanket stitch to sew our toys together and a running stitch and cross stitch to add details to our designs.
Here you can see us practicing our skills.
Forces
In science we have been learning about forces. We used 3 different sized balloons to test how much air resistance was acting against them. We found out that the largest balloon fell the slowest because there was more air resistance.
Temperature testing with Micro:bits
Building on their coding knowledge, the class decided to test the temperature in different parts of the school. Some created warnings using their Micro:bits if the temperature rise above a certain level. Very practical idea in the heat.
Some examples of the children’s…
Athletics KS2
Well done to everyone in Class 1 and Class 2 in helping our team come second in the Athletics Tournament
Thinktank Museum Trip
What a fantastic day exploring different areas of Science.
Programming robots, controlling a Mars rover, exploring fossils, getting hands on with modern technology such as heat cameras and manufacturing-a busy day! Even had time to become forensic investigators, solving a crime using different…
