National European Languages Day.
Today we learnt to sign our names and proudly showed the class.
We joined in with the song ‘Voices of Unity’ and created actions for the chorus. Our freestyle dance moves during the instrumental were incredible!
We followed this with our French lesson, holding conversations with our…
Investigating friction
In Science today the children investigated how friction plays a part in movement. They investigated different materials to see which one had the most friction.
Trench building
We are learning about the living conditions in the trenches. The children were able to create their own trench fit for soldiers.
Superhero proof readers
In Willow class we are super hero proof readers. Our purple pen edits our fantastic writing. Who will we choose to be today?
Exploring forces
In our science lesson we are investigating pull, push and twist forces. Looking into how different actions have different results.
Shadows
We have been learning about shadows in science. We have worked in groups to carry out a scientific enquiry to investigate how the distance of a light source affects the size of a shadow. We have discovered that the further away the light source is,the smaller the shadow is.
Shadows
In science we have been learning about how we can change the size of shadows. We carried out an investigation to explore how the length of shadows changes over the day.
Think Tank trip
We had a fabulous day out at the Think Tank. Year 3 explored the past, the present and the future, even programming a robot!
I think one our favourite areas was outside, with some of us getting quite wet!
Light
In science we have been learning about light. We have discovered that our eyes are not light sources so without light we wouldn’t be able to see. We tested this by covering our eyes with a black hat. We couldn’t see a thing!
We then looked at reflective surfaces. We came to the conclusion…
Planting Sunflowers.
We have had great fun planting sunflower seeds. We have been learning about what plants need to stay healthy as part of our science topic, so we are going use what we have learnt to look after our sunflowers and hopefully watch them grow. I wonder whose will grow the tallest?
Window by Jeannie Baker
In English we have been learning about how our world is changing through reading the book ‘Window’ by Jeannie Baker. This made us consider changes that are happening to the environment in our local area. We have discovered that since 2020, 1000 houses have been built in Tamworth and many…
Marvellous maths.
In maths, we have been learning about mass. We have used scales to measure objects from around the classroom. Some year 2 children even became balancing scales themselves to see whose bag was the heaviest.
We also had a debate about which is heavier1kg of feathers or 1kg of bricks?
