St Andrews Day worship.
Today we celebrated St Andrews Day in church.
Tempo, timbre and dynamics.
In music today we told the story of Little Red Riding Hood using tuned and untuned percussion instruments. We used tempo, timbre and dynamics to create our characters, show how they were feeling and what actions were taking place.
Frottage art.
In Art this week we have been learning about the technique of Frottage. This is where you take rubbings from textured surfaces to form a picture. It was a technique created by the artist Max Ernst.
Investigating melting.
We have been investigating how the temperature of water affects how quickly solids melt. As part of our experiment we used thermometers to measure the temperature. We were so amazed that one of our ice cubes took 40 minutes to melt!
Deforestation
We have been learning about deforestation linked to the Amazon rainforest. Today we have had group debates to put forward all our arguments both for and against deforestation.
Prayer poppies
As part of our Remembrance reflections we created prayer poppies. We listened to The Last Post and shared our prayers, on all those who have sacrificed their lives during wars.
Exploring solids.
In science we have been exploring different solids to find out their properties. At the start of the lesson some of us thought all solids were hard but now we know things like, sand, clay and fabric are all solids too. We tried compressing different solids, pouring them and changing their…
The Magic Box
We have written poems based on ‘The Magic Box’ by Kit Wright. We included sights,smells and tastes from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in our boxes. We then used our oracy skills to present our poems.
Bonjour tout le monde.
In French we have created a mini role play, practising all the vocabulary that we have been learning to introduce ourselves. Our French accents were very impressive!
DT Seasonal foods.
What an exciting morning we’ve had! We have used our cutting and peeling skills to make puff pastry tarts using seasonal fruits that grow in Autumn. We really enjoyed creating designs for our tarts and they look great! Hopefully they will taste just as good when we bake them at…
Apparatus fun.
It was our last lesson of gymnastics today so we had the apparatus out. We learnt how to use and move around safely The children showed such perseverance and strength .What a great start to the last week of term.
Glockenspiel .
